Thanks Dick, I played 10 years bass guitar in bands, but 8 years ago I stopped playing at all. After that, I always thought about learning to play the banjo, but the relevant impulse was always missing... In November 2007, I found this video on youtube: de.youtube.com/watch?v=se13k0SNghUAfter watching it, I knew there's no more time to loose. It was like a "kick-start" Meanwhile, I have 3 really fine open backs here (Lee, Fielding, Deering) ;D Regards, Oli

Yes, that guys a lovely player alright. Oh yeah Oli, rub it in why don't you, just cause I only got my hands on my first 5 String Banjo today, & it's a wee cheap Windsor, neading a bit of work. Jesper's just as bad as you, what with his THREE NEW GUITARS!! Aye, there must be plenty of money in DOODLIN' alright! ;D ;D .... and so, the domination of Old Time Music in Europe by Scandinavians, continues. Today Europe, tomorrow .... THE WORLD! ;D Cheers Dick

Well Dick. Since I posted the pictures it has become two and a half guitars, as the bridge began to rip off the Vintage Harmony a couple of hours after I posted them. But with a repair job I guess the story will end as a happy one anyway Welcome to Stoneface.

Sorry to hear about the wee problem Jesper, but I'm sure it'll all end well. Of course all these instruments were made to be played & so it's far better that they are out there being played, even although they get damaged now & then. Of course the older the instrument the more opportunities it's had to get bashed around. Surely the saddest thing though, musically, is for a Musical instrument to end up being stuck in a bank vault or in a glass case. I wouldn't mind bashes & knocks on an instrument as most can be repaired. They all tell a story & are part of the character of the instrument, like lines on the face of an old man. Of course you can go too far, like the bloke I knew who came out of a Pub Session, with a few drinks in him, put his Fiddle on the roof of the car while he looked for his car keys. Then he, forgetting about his Fiddle, jumped in, started her up & in the process of driving out of the car park, managed to drove right over the top of his Fiddle, which had slipped off the roof! It was then only fit for the fire! Anyway, Bob Dylan sang about his Tambourine Man but at least we've now got our very own Guitar Man! ;D Cheers Dick P.S. Sorry Stoneface, for butting in on your thread.
