Hi! I was delighted when I saw the announcement for this forum on the Bluegrass Ireland blog. I've been interested in Irish music for years (and my husband and I both play Scottish bagpipes just to be awkward) and I recently became interested in bluegrass (still learning the differences between bluegrass and oldtime!). I am re-learning guitar (I never was much good before....) after an absence from playing it of almost 30 years. My husband has taken up the tenor banjo (I don't think he's figured out how he will play bluegrass on it - he's working on Irish tunes right now). I was glad to hear this forum had started as I am interested to get in contact with other musicians in Ireland. Most forums (except the excellent Bluegrass Ireland blog) that I've stumbled across seem to be based in England.

Hello Trimbelle, nice to have you with us. Aye Trimbelle, well this forum is certainly dedicated to promoting Old Time, NOT Bluegrass. I love Old Time Music but I'm afraid Bluegrass does absolutely nothing at all for me, so for me at least they are very different.Well, has he checked out The Banjo Hangout? As well as loads of G Banjo stuff there's also a bit of Tenor stuff there too. For example, on my own archive there I have posted a track of me playing two of my own Tenor Banjo tunes: "Dusty Rhodes & The Beeches of Bregagh". He might like to listen to them & if so, he'll find them at: My Banjo Hangout ArchiveWell, I do hope you enjoy your time on this Forum. However, if you are interested in Irish Music then the Forum you also need to join is The SessionCheers Dick

Thanks for the info. My husband isn't really into computers but I will mention the Banjo Hangout etc to him. I will also check out The Session. Meanwhile I will hang around here and learn about oldtime too.

Hey, I only mentioned those other sites in the passing, I certainly wasn't trying to chase you away Trimbelle! ;D
I certainly do hope you hang around here for a while.
I don't think we're such a bad bunch, really!
Cheers Dick
