Hello Ptarmigan, and thanks for the warm welcome. I can tell about myself, that I'm making my living as a cartoonist/illustrator. You can see some of my work here: www.jesperdeleuran.dk/index.html Sorry, most of the text is in danish, but the pictures speak for themselves I guess. In my spare time my main interest is playing old time music with the Big Hungry Joe. You can hear 5 tunes on MySpace: www.myspace.com/hungryjoeMy main instrument is the guitar and I also sing. On the side I play mandolin, 5 string banjo, autoharp, and I own a fiddle, but I'm only a wannabe on that instrument. And lately I have fallen in love with the mountain dulcimer, and have ordered one from England. They are not easily obtainable in Denmark. I have been interested in american folkmusic since my early teens, in the beginning of the sixties, when the folk revival started. I heard Pete Seger, Joan Baez, New Lost City Ramblers, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, Chisco Houston and off course Bob Dylan. And loads of blues. In the seventies I began listening to bluegrass, and hooked up with a couple of other guys, and played some of that. I have not been a practicing musician for many years, but last year I met Tobias, the banjo player in Big Hungry Joe, who asked me to join. I have not played old time music before, eccept from the old songs I know from way back. But I can say that it's one of the best things ever happening to me. Aside from when my son was born. I can only welcome this initiative to make an old time forum on this side of the pond.

Hey, some of those face drawings are so life like they're on the scary side!
My Mum always wondered how I made a living playing music, so I wonder what your Mum says about you making a living from doodling!!! ;D
But seriously those drawings are brilliant & as you know I really like those ones of Big Hungry Joe on MySpace.
I'm glad you are on board.
Cheers Dick

Thank you Dick.
My mother didn't mind. She made her living by doodling too, and my father was a painter, and my brother was a comicbook artist and illustrator, famous in Denmark. So you can say I come from a doodling family. ;D
