I have found this great place on the net: sniff.numachi.com/~rickheit/dtrad/I have used it a lot. When I for instance hear an old time song, and want to find the lyrics. Especially on old recordings it can sometimes be hard to hear the words. So I look it up on this site. There are tunes to a lot of them too, if you can read sheet music. You can't find everything, but it is pretty close. Some of the tunes are not old time, but I guess most of them are.

I posted the last one too fast. I forgot this one. There's a heck of a lot there too: www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/Take look around. I guess there are close to a thousand songs. There are Irsih and british etc music too, and there are educational things for fiddle, banjo, mandolin tabs for songs etc.etc. And as you can see, it is located in the UK. And this is a nice one too: www.playingbyear.com/songs

Yeah, that numachi site is one I use at times, but my favorite is the Mudcat Cafe: www.mudcat.org/There's a database of songs and also a forum. People often post lyrics from different sources so you often end up with a very complete overview of the song and variations. This is also a great resource: www.ibiblio.org/fiddlers/FCfiles.htmlMainly notes on fiddle tunes, but often there are lyrics too. Very handy as well for figuring out the different names tunes go by and and how they're related. Hunter

There's a wonderful site with links to lyrics, and for most of them, old recordings. There are all kinds of ballads from old English to western ballads, and of course loads of oldtime ballads, etc, and in many versions as well. It's a gold mine if you're into ballad singing. maxhunter.missouristate.edu/
