This probably needs to go in another section but I'll start it here and it can be moved...
From the Google old time newsgroup
Kentucky Educational TV came to JP Fraley's Mountain Music Gatherin' this past September and filmed a documentary about old-time/mountain music highlighting it and fiddling in particular at the Fraley Festival. It's going to begin to be aired in Kentucky, starting this week (Jan. 22 is the first). You can get more info at:
www.ket.org/cgi-bin/tvschedules/episode.pl?nola=KMUSE+000102
It includes folks talking about mountain music, a history of the
Fraley Festival that includes 1980's footage of JP and Annadeene
playing and singing, and then highlights some fiddlers from Kentucky and West Virginia who attend the Festival: Paul Smith, Roger Cooper, Bobby Taylor, John Harrod, Michael Garvin, Jesse Wells, and Rossi Clark.
So far so good but being too far away I looked at the web site, decided that they appeared to provide copies for private purposes (they're an educational setup), took a chance and emailed them to ask about availability.
This is a summary their response:
Mountain Music Gatherin' is available on DVD for $24.95. Generally the shipping cost inside the US is $3.95, but for outside of the US it will depend on the weight of the package and where it is going. To order call (U.S. number may need international code) 1-800-945-9167 (or 859-258-7217), fax 859-258-7399, or mail KET Tape Duplication, 600 Cooper Drive, Lexington, KY 40502. They take Visa/Mastercard or check.
You can also send details by email but I'm a bit wary of sending credit card numbers in an open email.
And..... it's supposedly region free!!! I'll let you know what I think when my copy arrives.
