And a very fine book, if not the best, for you doublebass players out there is The Jazz Bass Book..Technique and Tradition by John Goldsby foreword by Ron Carter Backbeat Books San Francisco
If you are interested ind the role of the doublebass in modern music and the players of this fine instrument this book is a must. The book is from 2002 and is written 1. double bass-methods..jazz 2. jazz-introduction and study 3. jaz-history and criticism
You may say..Why shall I study jazz? I play old time ! Well, you never get to old to learn and if you are a beginner I will higly advise you to find a good teacher who can learn you to read sheet music and how to find your way on the fingerboard. This book tells it all!! There is a cd included with examples and scales ect. Have fun!! cheers, John
