I thought you might like to know that Julie Black, of the "Mississippi Magic Cloggers" will be demonstrating Appalachian Clog Dance at the Ulster American Folk Park, in the Pennsylvania Log Barn this weekend, from Saturday to Monday, each afternoon.
Cheers
Dick
P.S. In between dances, Mrs P & myself will be playing some Traditional Music from here, plus a few Old Time Tunes from over there too. So if your in the neighbourhood, why not bring along your Geetar or Banjo & join us.
This will be our home for the next 4 days:
Julie Black, of the "Mississippi Magic Cloggers"
Julie Black is a long-time Appalachian Clog Dance performer and instructor who has taught teams and workshops for the past 19 years. During her years of solo competing, she won more than 100 trophies with her fast-paced advanced clogging. She is a native of Vicksburg, MS, where she led a competition and performance team called Southern Sparkle who traveled across the southeastern US.
Julie has taught clogging workshops in MS, AL, LA, FL, TX, NY, NV using her own choreographed routines. She has also taught workshops and performed in Southern and Central Ireland, and was hosted by the Ossy Cloggers of Accrington, England, where she gave several performances and taught workshops.
Julie has choreographed many routines during her years as a clogging instructor, many of which have been published in magazines and on-line. She has also penned several articles for dancers that have been published.
Recently, Julie was asked to choreograph and perform numbers for the upcoming Allstar Jamboree, which will be a Hurricane Katrina relief festival, in Gulfport, MS in March of 2007. This performance will be broadcast live on DirecTV and will feature Julie and several of her cloggers.
Julie was dubbed as 'the fastest feet on the coast' during one of her performances.
