Advance notice of guests for the Gainsborough festival. More details and booking form will be available at www.foaotmad.org.uk - probably in about a week but don't quote me! From America (performing under the name Piney Woods with Kate Lissauer) are Dave Bing, his brother Tim and Jim Martin. Dave should need no introduction having appeared over here regularly, both as a fiddle workshop giver and performer in various guises. Tim Bing is very highly thought of as a banjo player and very rarely gets out of the States (although I think he's been at the Omagh museum weekend in the past). Jim Martin plays bass, guitar and no doubt other things but is also a record producer as well as being a member of Gandydancer with Dave. Adam Hurt and Beth Hartness will also be joining us. Adam has a huge stream of both banjo and fiddle wins and placings from numerous festival competitions despite only being in his 20s. Beth is probably his most regular backing guitarist and is unusual in that she plays finger style accompaniment in the style of various Round Peak guitarists. Holding up the UK honours will be the Down Trodden String Band from Derbyshire and the Kitty Hawks (from various places south of Watfor Gap!). Dancers will have the pleasure of Kerry Fletcher's clogging tuition and Kerry will be supported by fiddler Tim Brooks.

And of course that should have been 'WATFORD' Gap but the significance will probably be lost on anyone not aware of the UK geography. For the rest of you it's a mythical north/south divide - a bit like the Mason Dixon line...

Knowing that there are people coming from Spain and Denmark as well as the length and breadth of the British Isles, it's probably worth pointing out that tickets will be available on the door so if you are coming from far away then you can pay in hard earned pounds from the ATM or Bureau de Change rather than trying to sort out bank transfers.
Looking forward to seeing you.... I'll be the harrassed looking one... Nick

I'm really sorry I can't get over to that festival Nick. It would have been great fun getting a chance to maybe put a few faces to some of the member's names here, but sadly there's just no way I can get away. The fact that I don't fly, of course doesn't make getting to events like that any easier. However, I certainly hope it is a wonderful success & I hope in between the nervous breakdowns, you get the odd opportunity to enjoy yourself & maybe even play the occasional tune or two! ;D Cheers Dick
