New Mountain Music consists of Helén Norberg, song, guitar, fiddle, bass and an accordian-like instrument called "durspel", Thord Söderberg five-string banjo, guitar and mandolin and Peggy Sjöström song, hammered dulcimer, penny whistle, guitar och Appalachian clogging. Clogging is a traditionel dance originating from the Kentucky and Tennessee area.
The band was born 1995 and concisted then only of Helén och Thord. Since November 2002 Peggy belongs to the band too. All three have for many years played in a lot of band constellations, and therefore there it's no exaggeration to say that the routin is solid. Peggy has been activ in Michigan, USA for more than 30 years and there she played the kind of music that New Mountain Music plays now.
Peggy has thanks to her experience of American folk music through her special instrument, the hammered dulcimer added an extra sound to the band and made some of the American tunes to sound even more authentic.
