Folklorist Alan Jabour, director of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, defines folk art and folk life for an off-camera interviewer. Folklorists Peggy Bulger and Ralph Rinzler and Florida Folk Festival director Thelma Boltin are also shown. The film contains additional footage of a square dance and musical performances.
