Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Though in Denmark we don't have such a thing. It must be an UK/USA phenomenon. Like Halloween (no comparison though It's not a part of our traditions. All this with pumpkin heads and trick or treat. We haven't had any of that until the last few years, when smart businessfolks began to advertice and sell a lot of crap, and sadly a lot of danes gladly jumped onto that wagon. But happy Thanksgiving anyway. Our next highlight is Christmas. And again, thanks to businesspeople, Chritmas starts in the beginning of october I personally think that one month would be more than enough .

Yes Deleuran, as far as I know it's just celebrated in America.
I was just being polite to our American members!
Which reminds me, what do you call these Dogs, in Denmark?
Cheers Dick

Grand Danois. I guess you call them Great Dane. But for some reason, they are called a french name here. Don't know why.

A French name eh.
We tend to think of Poodles, when we think of French Dogs & those huge beasts certainly don't remind me of a Poodle! ;D

The term Great Dane is "Stor dansker" in danish, which means excactly the same, but one would think of it as a human being which is 'stor' (big). Meaning eather in size or because he/she has a high position in society, as politician, artist, scientist etc. We wouldn't think of dogs. Maybe the french name relates to the fact, that back in time, around the time they breaded these huge dogs, french was the trendy language to speak among the upper classes, royalty, etc. so they could put a distance to the "common man" and simple peasants, and I guess these dogs were breaded among the higher classes. So "Grand Danois" it is. Well, it is a theory anyway. I haven't done research on the subject

By the way. Do you remember that the filterrobot, didn't like that I wrote the word Sp*ons. Yesterday I talked with a guy I know who work for an american company, and he had asked an amercian college (is it speller right?), and he came up with an explanation. If you are interested?I can return to that later. Maybe in the thread where the subject came up.
