Hi Dick, I guess that I was first old timer here in Denmark who saw CCD live on TV. I knew who they were when you started mentioned them. Please, if you quote me, do it right and not out of context. You miss one line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Tobias, if I had to make a choice between Foghorn and CCD live I prefer Foghorn. But then again, they are two completely different band. Enough of this sh.. cheers, John ps. the offer CCD live in DK was for real.

Ooooops! OK - I've added another 3 lines ... happy now! On the contrary John, I think it's healthy to discuss our likes & dislikes. We're never going to all like the same stuff so I, for one, learn a lot from reading what you more experienced & knowledgeable Old Timers have to say about OT musicians, singers, bands etc etc, & I actually welcome & really look forward to these little discussions. I know, we often end up going round in circles & your probably right, it's probably about time to put this one to bed, & I know I should really be off, practicing my Banjo, but sh*t, it certainly beats watching TV! Cheers Dick

Hi Dick, Iowa is still a long ways from here, but if I ever run into him I'll mention it! I hadn't heard of the Gilded Bats before, interesting sound. I don't listen to much modern stuff I hate to admit, if it's live I'll try to check it out - but otherwise Hobart Smith, Wade Ward, Buell Kazee, Luther Strong, Dock Boggs and a slew of others keep me well occupied.

The CCD sure is a very interesting band not like all the others. Like Dick I tend to favour just any blues favoured OT music.
I don't know how to define "pure" or "correct" oldtime music, but as I see it, the quality of old time music very much lies in the unstoppeable drive and a certain rawness and they sure have that.
Having said that, I do think the quality of the concerts could have been better, I dont know if I should blame the engineer or the band ;-)
