Thanks John. I posted the ones I could find links to. Others are mentioned often enough in dispatches, but often don't actually have a dedicated website to their name. If you know of any that do, that I missed, by all means feel free to post a suitable & useful link. Cheers Dick

Hey John. Take care. Now you do the same mistake you criticised others for earlier in the day. This place is for favorite american musicians, and Anders Færgemand is danish, as you well know, as you play together, Johannes Bonnefass, from Netherland, not danish, but live and work in Denmark. Everything must be put in the right place. Right ? ;D

Jesper,
On the European musician's thread, I've actually marked Johannes down for Denmark, simply because that's where he is right now & that's where he's making & playing Banjos.
I felt sure you other Danish musicians wouldn't mind adopting him! ;D
Cheers Dick

On the contrary. I guess we're all proud to consider the maker, of some of the worlds finest banjos, a dane My point was just that he belonged in the european section, and not here. By the way. Tobias told me that Kristian Herner, who plays clawhammer with the Rockridge Brothers are a relative of Johannes Bonefass. A nephew or something. Just a little gossip ;D

Ha Ha! Well Jesper, you just can't beat a bit of By the way, do you know if Kristian plays a Johannes Banjo? Cheers Dick P.S. So he's his son! Oh well, I guess he'd just have to play one of Daddy's Banjos then!

It looks like he uses his fathers banjos. Take a look at the icon on his MySpace site. And gossip I guess is caractarised by somebody telling something that they have heard from somebody who have heard it from somebody else, and you have forgotten half of what you were told. ;D But when Tobias says so I'm convinced it is 100% true

Yes, and how about mentioning Roscoe Holcomb. He's great both on the banjo and on the guitar, and he sings with that high lonesome sound of the Appalachians. A man who destroyed his back and his lungs working in the mines. But luckily there are recordings with the man, and film clips on several DVD's, of which I have some. I'll return with some links if you are interested.
And one of my heroes, Doc Watson, a great singer, and a fantastic guitarist plays a fairly good banjo too.
