Im no expert but I guess the Shelbourne clips was more like River Dance, while the "clogging" clips were old time. Nice clips anyway. If you're interested I got this quite interesting clip from Tobias about solo mountain dancing: Talking Feet: Solo Southern Dance: Buck, Flatfoot and TapIt would be cool to be able to move my feet like that as a little gimmick while playing!

The link doesn't seem to work. It's the right link though. I have just tried it, but this time I have written the comma and the number by hand, and then it worked. www.folkstreams.net/film,121 Or you can, in stead of clicking on the link, try to copy and paste it into the browser. It just worked for me.

While the clog did exist in antiquity in the US, clogging in the contemporary sense isn't an old-time dance, not by any traditional standards. Flat-foot, buck-dancing, and jig-dancing are. The "Talking Feet" DVD expands on this, though doesn't cover Ozark jig-dancing at all.
