Are you looking for somewhere to store your musical efforts? Well "Sound Lantern" may be the answer. I've just registered & posted 4 old tracks of some of my Concertina & Tenor Banjo playing, just to check it out. Feel free to check it out via my own page, here: My Sound Lantern SiteCheers Dick

Hey thank you for the tip Dick. That Sound Lantern looks really nice. I will take a closer look at it later. I just heard a couple of your concertina tunes. Very nice sounds

Now, now Jesper, be careful ...................... you might upset Tobias with talk like that! ;D Sorry Tobias, just funnin, but hey, maybe you should just think of Concertinas, as Six Sided Harmonicas! But seriously thanks Jesper, I've only had time to check out the music section at Sound Lantern, but there appears to be a lot more going on there, so I'll explore the whole site, first chance I get. Cheers Dick

I have been too busy putting on sounds, and tonight Tobias, Lasse and I have had a little practice session, so I haven't yet had the time to explore it much. But it seems like it is a place for putting up sounds of any kind. People reading their poetry, recordings of nature sounds, and many many more. I like the whole idea, and look forward to find out more about it.
I have one problem though, I can't get the Personal info to work. Everytime I write them in and click Update channel, nothing happens.

Jesper, I'd say if you dropped 'Basil' a note, he'd sort that out for you. Cheers Dick P.S. I've been unable to download myself, since about 9pm tonight & now I can't even get back onto the site, at all! I hope this is only a temp. problem.

Is it true?? I can't believe it. But I must admit it fills my old heart with joy ;D I took a look inside, but concentrated on getting my "Personal info" to work. I couldn't yesterday, and was unable to get access to the server most of the evening, but now it works!! Great. But I didn't see the music chart. I must have another look, to see Tom Dooley. Incredible. It my first number one hit ;D ;D Thank you for celebrating so loudly

Aw, don't cry Dick I think that the fact that so many have listened to Tom Dooley is not because I do it especially good, but because everybody knows the title from the Kingston Trio's old hit. I think that alone can make people push the button. (I can't stand it with the Kingston Trio by the way, but I love this old version of it)

I didn't realize there were money involved in this. Tell me more, I'm for sale ;D I couldn't dream of forgetting the OT forum. I have a habit of visiting it every day. I'm hooked so to speak. By the way. Where does it come from this Sound site. Is it british or Irish or what?

In case you are interested Jesper, there IS money to be made, by posting your MP3 songs / tracks over on ezFolk. Here's my own page over there. Causeway MusicWho knows, if you made it to No 1 over on that site too, you could make a fortune! Cheers Dick

Actually there was a MySpace friend The Chairs who asked me if I would join the ezfolk. He offered to recommend me, and wrote about me and BHJ in the forum there: www.ezfolk.com/forums/forum7/5141.htmlI didn't join though, because I thought I had my hands full with the OT forum, fiddle and banjo hangout, two myspace sites, toonpool and some danish illustrator blogs etc. It's great fun to be in the cyperspace, but the day has only 24 hours, and I have to work and eat and sleep too. But maybe I should consider it. I didn't know there were money involved. How? I thought people could download the tunes for free. I can always use some pocket money.

No Jesper, there's a lot more going on at ezFolk, so it took me a while to get to grips with it. However, from what I can see at ezFolk, you can choose the option NOT to let your MP3s be downloadable. That way, if anyone want a copy, they have to pay for it - but it only works if you have a Payal account. I'm just surprised, if anyone actually enjoys listening to my wee tunes. Cheers Dick

Yes me too ;D Not your tunes, I like them, but my own. I'm happy if anybody just care to listen, and maybe give me a couple of encouraging words now and then And anyway people can download the same tunes for free from other sites on the web. So why bother. I don't own the songs. I have written a couple of lines to Tor, clawhammer player in The Chairs, and a nice guy (he likes my songs ;D) So maybe I'll join the ezfolk. If not for anything else, just to attract more people to my website, and make a little PR for Big Hungry Joe and our CD which by the way has gone into printing, so we might get the first copies in the beginning of may. ;D

Take it easy, Dick. While we lay in our beds, sleeping, those two suckers have spent the night, (or day) pushing the button, or called friends and family and urged them to listen to their terrible music, over, and over ;D It is hard to compete with.

Och, I've just realised the major flaw in the voting system over on the Sound Lantern ..... you can actually vote for yourself! .... so you don't even need to bribe family & friends to vote! Each time I click on my own song, that registers! Now that can't be right, fair or proper & surely makes a nonsense of the whole system! Mind you Jesper, looking through the vast amounts of material that now exist over on ezFolk, I don't think it's going to be nearly so easy for us to hit the top spots over there! e.g. my highest ranking track on the Irish List is sitting at a lowly 133 right now! Clearly, my deposit on that Ferrari is a long way away! ;D Cheers Dick

Yes, it doesn't make sense, does it? What is the pleasure of being #1 if you are the only one who has been pushing the button? And it is not a rating system. The rating is in the stars, and you can only click once on them. I got a devilish idea. How about pushing yours and mine up to #1 and 2 again, just to see, what their next move will be. ;D Somebody ought to tell the administrator to do something about it. It is not funny that way. I like ezFolk better. It is nice and easy. Nobody has rated any of my songs, and the only review I've got is you, who says, that the one who wrote It Ain't Gonna Rain No More couldn't be from Ireland But I have got some nice friends, Rockridge Brothers for instance, and some nice messages. Nice and cozy. And a lot of fine music. Bad music too, but that's OK as long as they can't cheat with their ratings
