I haven't posted for ages. Had nothing to say, really. My fiddle has been focused on tunes from Orsa and Älvdalen (=no Appalachian whatsoever). I do have a neat fiddle to show off, though. It's my old grandpa's and it has a lovely tone. Anyway, now when I have a great great lovely mandolin I'll be focusing on that even if it's not really a traditional oldtime instrument. I love mandolin-ing as much as fiddling, or sometimes even more, but mostly because I'm better at that than at fiddling.
Anyway, Jesper, I found a video I shot at you and Bengt jamming at Kattinge, if you don't mind I can upload it to my You Tube so that you can see it. I suppose you're going to Kattinge this year too? I'm definitely going, don't know about Daniel yet. What about Gränna? It's mostly a bluegrass festival but there can be some neat oldtime jams, actually.

Hej Susi. Just saw your post. Have been a way for a week with no computer access.
I would love to see that video. Pleas let me know as soon as you have put it up on youtube, You can use my address: jd@firkant.net.
And yes, we're certainly going to Kattinge this year. Not Gränna, but we have just been to Nääsville i Ätran, and it was fun. Mostly bluegrassbands though. Rockridge Brothers were the only other OT band, and they are pretty heavy competition, but really nice guys. And man, do they play well!! Not much time for jamming, if any. But great fun anyway. But Kattinge is much funnier. Much more jamming opportunities.
As I said, I'd love to see that video with Bengt and me. Hope you'll post it soon.
By the way, have you seen that Bengt and his band Old Time Travellers are on MySpace now?
untill later- Jesper

I have!! They are great! We had a really good time the week after midsummer, when Daniel and myself were in Sweden and we met up with Bengt, Thomas, Håkan and Mats (Swedish guitar player, you might have seen him at Kattinge) for a barbecue and jam. It was great!!! I had no mandolin then but I played some fiddle, and the first thing Thomas did when he arrived was to put his f-style mandolin in my hands. Oh, that nice man!!!! ;D He said he prefers his old mandolin anyway.
