Hi Jesper, yes it is a great site with hundreds of strange and crazy personalities. I am proud to be born in Blodhavn, Blood Harbor, the Dogpatch of Denmark. It is a pity that the site is not in English. vi ses Jesper, John

Hi Dick, Right now I am reading the history about Your area. When I was young, still am, I loved to hear and play Celtic music. I still love it and I find myself drifting more and more towards that again. Not that I will give up playing old time mountain music but I find the Scottish and Irish music more and more exiting. Reading its history and reading about the culture gives me great pleasure. My cousins father was from Belfast but that is a long story. This coming Sunday I will attend the local jam here in town. We shall see. I will start learning the Irish language starting this year so with a little luck I can read a little bit next year. cheers, John

Interesting John. I wish you luck with the language. I tried to learn Scots Gaelic many, many years ago & failed miserably. I found it very difficult, but then you already speak two languages, that I know of, so I'm sure you will find it fairly easy. In the meantime here's a page with a few phrases, you might find useful. Cheers Dick

Dick,
I laughed when I saw your comment about you must be a Protestant Atheist or a Catholic Atheist in N. Ireland - how true! I am originally Canadian and probably fall into the agnostic category - certainly not a church goer at all. I belong to a local historical society and was asked to join the committee when there was a vacancy. When I suggested that someone who had been a member longer might be more suitable I was told that they needed to balance up the numbers on the committee (the group is cross community). I told them I didn't fall into either camp but was informed that it's all about what you are perceived to be - my husband's family are Protestant therefore I am. It is a strange society, isn't it?!

Aye Dianne, it's a funny old World alright. My first Manager even put me down as a Catholic, automatically, on an equal opportunities form, just because he knew I played Traditional Irish Music! ;D ;D Even funnier than that, when I told him that I'd actually been brought up in the Church of Scotland, so was reared as a Protestant, he looked startled & said ~ I suppose I'm not sure if I'm really classed as an Atheist though, after all, I do believe in Mother Nature. I know we come from nature & we go back to it & as far as I can see, when I look around me, I know that nature has produced the most beautiful planet I could ever imagine. It just makes me so sad, to see the way we are treating it, & our sister creatures. Cheers Dick

It's a good question. I have tried to mail him on his different mail adresses, but he doesn't reply to any of them. Why? It's a mystery. He visits the forum from time to time though. At the bottom of the page we can see who have been logged in the last 24 hours. And sometimes there have been an "invisible user". It's Dick. But why is he silent? That is the question. Dick, where are you? We miss you!!!

My guess is that it's his really busy time of year, and with the US Labor Day holiday weekend coming up, and the Bluegrass festival at the Ulster-American Folk Park at the same time, I suspect he's busy playing. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.

Hi Jesper, Just stumbeled over my feet . At my job now. Walking without chrutches but in slow motion. Glad to hear you had a ball at Kattinge. Did we get a new chairman now that Poul Erik will stop or what? Been playing a little Irish lately. I have got an offer from a jass band and I have said yes. New Orleans and mainstream jazz. We are still having fun in our big band. 2 fine jobs allready and we are now planning the recording session'where you are invited among others. Taske care until we see each other again John

Hej John. Good to hear you have put away the crutches. Did you see the videos? Tobias got 4 more small videos from Povl-Erik i går, and has allready put them on youTube: [a href=" www.youtube.com/user/TobiasEnevoldsen"] www.youtube.com/user/TobiasEnevoldsen[/a] We now have a lot of photos, videos and soundrecordings from this years Kattinge gathering, so I guess, that Tobias, the webmaster, will put them on the DAFF webpage in the near future. Sounds good about the jazz job. I love jazz, but can't play much. I look forward to hear what you have in mind about that recording session. I know nothing so far. God bedring and cheers till we meet again Jesper

Hi Jesper,' great videos. Seems you had a ball at Kattinge. I am still limping round. It will take a while before my foot is ok. Foot loose and fancy free. We will be discussing the come together and recording this week and I will mail you about this project. Cheers, John

I had hoped to write a little to this site again but time is not at my side. I am digging my garden and digging in old mouldy books for some interesting non useful facts bout music and instruments. But playing music and chess takes all my time right now. It has been great fun writing to this site and it is good to see so many people writing to these pages. Been a long time since Dick has written something. Bought a new sixshooter. Blackpowder, and I am going to fire it for the first time this coming Sunday. Old time, that is. Going to bye a new bass and p.u.system. Think it is going to be King Rockabilly pick ups this time. The bass will be Engelhardt Swing Master Blonde. Have fun John

I wonder what happened to Troublesome Creek String Band. Johannes Boonefass, banjo maker par exelence, is moving to Sweden. A big loss for us in DK but what a fine banjo player they get in Sweden. Still limping around but in good mood. Will be playing CW to night with the big band. As soon we have 30 numbers on stock we will start recording. It is going to be a cross over of American root music. We are going to invite some of the oldtimers so it is going to be very interesting. I hope. Heard that Jerry Reed is dead last month. What a pity!! Still working on MOTMA Convention 09. Hope you are doing fine out there!! cheers, John ps. one of my friends bought a spanish guitar at the local fleamarkt 60 euro, 2 strings missing. The owner was dead so his wife was selling out from his belongins. New estimated value ca. 2000 Euro Lucky guy!!

Fell down the staircase. So, it will take some time before my foot is all right again. Yes, we had a ball at the gig.
